Presentation
The University of Siena, with the Department of Political Economy and Statistics and Department of Information Engineering and Mathematical Sciences, is involved in WP#5 “Digital Transformation” and, more actively, in WP #6 “Sustainable Economy” of the DeSK project. In order to achieve the objectives envisaged by the Project and, specifically, by WP 6, together with the incoming and outgoing mobilities of students and faculty, UNISI organizes a Training School for PhD students, senior and junior researchers, as well as non-academic staff. The school represents a pivotal activity of the project and an important tool for achieving the specific objectives of WP 6. In fact, together with analyzing and developing the project’s topics, it aims at strengthening academic networks, promoting exchanges, boosting scientific-cultural contamination, enriching teaching skills and experiences, and disseminating knowledge.
To maximize the expected results, the School focuses on topics on which some of the Universities partner of the project can actively contribute, because of their expertise and knowledge, particularly indicators of sustainability, ecological transition and sustainable tourism. Indeed, they are endowed with both researchers and groups conducting theoretical and empirical research on these issues. The School is the best place to share, deepen and disseminate experiences, knowledge and teaching practices on the subject.
To ensure a critical approach and a more dynamic and stimulating environment, experts and researchers from universities and institutions from geographic areas other than those involved in the project, particularly from northern Europe and North America, will collaborate and participate in the School (see program).
